I don't want to paint the entire state with the same brush (though tempting, and possibly warranted), but the corner in which I live is mind-bogglingly backwards. Everyone knows the charges are B.S. It was purely and simply political vengeance for backing the challenger. And when you're the biggest fish in a pond as tiny as this, you get away with it.

We have been told from Day 1 that we are not allowed to show support for any candidate not backed by the FOP. No candidate is worth my livelihood. While I may support them personally, I have never and won't ever show it publicly.

I am completely stunned at his hesitance to appeal the unemployment benefits denial. Why on earth would he think that filing an appeal for unemployment benefits would in any way affect his new job?

I too thought it was completely idiotic for him to BORROW money to contribute to a political campaign. :rolleyes:

To answer your question Twelve Volt, he was employed at the time he borrowed the campaign money, and he thought he was securing his future with it, because the candidate had made promises to that end. Afterward, he would be unable to secure a loan for a lawyer because he was then unemployed.

At this point, he's up to his eyeballs in debt, but is afraid of angering his old Chief with an appeal for unemployment benefits. :confused:
Why would he think this is in any way a factor???

In my area this is fairly common in Sheriffs Offices. Not very common in police departments here....thankfully.
