I believe some of you may be familiar with my struggle so far with the Physical Agility Test and that I keep failing the bench press. ( ) Well I got a call earlier this morning from the LT of a department that I interviewed with. This dept does things a little different with their hiring process, in regards to the order they do things in. This is a very small town and there is no indoor gym in the town so the physical is done outside (the run anyway). They usually start off with the physical to weed people out but in the winter they do the cover letter/resume thing, they like that you get an interview with the Chief and the LT, they like that they give you an application/personal history and if they like that you get selected to take the physical test. Being that it's winter, I got the call this morning to see when I can take the physical. It's scheduled for Friday morning. Here's the twist. They know that I have failed the bench for another dept and that I now have a personal trainer. This town doesn't have a bench the dept has access too so I wont have to take the bench test on Fri. I am pretty sure that I can pass it at this point anyway but it's cool that I don't have to take it. I will for the entrance examine to the academy in April, assuming I get that far. But it gets better - the sit-ups and push-ups are at the PD and the run is outside. He says that he'll have it measured out and that I will be running alone and probably be in front of the cruiser on the side of the road. Now that's gonna be an experience I wont soon forget. So outside with a chance of snow and 26 degrees with th cruiser and lights behind me - I may just feel like Rocky........
