Felony Seduction

We had an alien come in on a flight the other day who had a criminal record. A quick check of his rap sheet showed that he was convicted in Michigan in 2006 of "felony seduction." I looked up the section of law and found this:

THE MICHIGAN PENAL CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 328 of 1931

750.532 Seduction; punishment.

Sec. 532.

Punishment—Any man who shall seduce and debauch any unmarried woman shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 5 years or by fine of not more than 2,500 dollars; but no prosecution shall be commenced under this section after 1 year from the time of committing the offense.

Guys, I think most of us have been guilty of this at one time or another.

But seriously that's a F'ed up law. Ohio has all kinds of stupid laws but I've never actually heard of one being enforced. Maybe it was the Chief's daughter???

I'm sure the original fine wasn't that much. Most states have a statute that states the penalties for the various levels of crime. The seduction statute would be from 1931, but the penalty for that level of felony is from a recent year.

I went to http://www.measuringworth.com/calculators/compare/ and plugged the figures into their calculator thing there. I am much too stupid to understand how that thing works, but this is what it spit back to me:

What's up with Michigan and their weird laws? There is this one about Adultery being punishable by life in prison.

What if it was the woman that initiated the seduction? Would that be a different crime, or same?

Back when I was young, (Yeah, there were women even back then) I used to be hit on, and even seduced a few times. Those were the days! :rolleyes:
