    Winter- Bah, Humbug!

We have been really lucky here in CT. As an anti-winter person, I have been very happy with the current "global warming" effect that seems to be occurring around here. Hint to everyone- buy more SUVs! :D

I worked mids, and it wasn't too cold until about 6AM. Then the temp dropped to really, really cold levels- it was at least down to 40. That happened out of nowhere. We had been having very nice 50s to 60s temps up to now.

I had training during the day, and as it went by, the temp continued to drop. It looks like it may get down to 18 tonight. Did I mention I hate cold weather? This sucks!

I'm trying to figure out how this is going to play out with the horses. It's been so nice, their winter coats aren't grown in. If the weather keeps varying as much as this is going on, I'll be running around putting on blankets and then taking them off. It's suppose to get back up into the 50s in a couple days.

It's getting kind of hard to figure out what's going on.

There was actually a little snow falling this morning. Just enough of it stuck to qualify as a "dusting."

    It's all gone now.

BTW, feel free to blame the mild winter on me. I bought a brand new snow blower in October, since the house we bought in March has a fairly long driveway. It is sitting untouched in the corner of the garage, as shiny and new as the day I got it.

If I hadn't bought one we'd have had thirty bizzards by now.

    Yeah, not much.

On a side note as I was walking both dogs this morning they both slipped on a patch of ice in the driveway. Friggin hilarious..... expecially seeing one is a Husky.... of all breeds.

It got chilly over night down here, it was 59 degrees. It didn't even hit 80 today. I might need to get my windbreaker out if this trend continues. BRRRR:D

Here in the midwest, we usually have pretty bad winters. Not too much snow, but it was always usually a cold time of the year.

Now, we have a pretty stable temperature of 34-40 degrees. While still cold, I just wear my leather coat and I'm fine. In the mornings, walking from my sister's car to the school, my face feels like it's gonna peel off due to it being so cold, but later in the day it warms up a bit.

No snow here! The news people threatened it, but nothing came down. We had a lot of rain a week ago, but it's not as bad as some winters around here.

You haven't felt cold til you've been to Canada. The high tomorrow is supposed to be minus 23 C tomorrow, and the blizzard warning is finally lifted. They had a tow ban on the roads, making it illegal for tow trucks to operate on the highways. Now that's a winter! :D

Yea, we'll see if your saying that when the first blizzard hits! Don't worry it won't be long before you're spending your days shoveling the driveway and responding to TC after TC involving soccer moms who thought their 4X4 could handle ice conditions! :D

But remember when all that snow and ice gets ya down, my door is always open in SUNNY CALIFORNIA!!! LOL

I love responding to MVA's where someone tried going down a steep, winding hill in the middle of a blizzard when the road is a solid sheet of ice, and they are at a loss to figure out how the accident happened, because they have a 4WD SUV.

"I don't know how this could have happened, officer," they say, adjusting their "dunce" cap in the high wind, "I have four wheel drive."

"But you were going down the hill," I'll answer, assuming (erroneously) that by saying that I will help kick-start their brain into the realm of the multi-digit IQ.

"And the capital of Nebraska is Lincoln," they respond as they try to figure out what all the white fluffy stuff is falling from the sky.

What's even better, my dear fellow Connecticadian(and Stewie can attest to this), is when you get the woman driving the 70,000 dollar Lexuws SUV that gets stuck on the hill and it doesn't even have 4WD! Now, that's smart spending!

I’m not looking forward to the first snow storm. The idiots seem to forget what the white stuff is and continue to drive like they normally do. I don’t mind handling the accidents; I just hate having to be on the road when they’re being stupid.

Ya I hear ya on that one; however, it sucks when it is so blistering cold but there is no snow.
