We have been watching those west of us get pounded by the weather.
It was just a matter of time before we got a little of it.
I went home at about 1 am on Sunday morning.
It was drizzling and it was 31 degrees.
The wind was really blowing.
I went to bed at 3 am and was dead to the world
when the phone rang at 4:30.
I knew it was not going to be a good call.
A pickup was northbound when it crossed a bridge.
The bridge was slick.
The pickup does a 180 degree spin and ends up in the
southbound ditch. Which is also about 20 feet down a slope.
While he is trying to figure out what to do. A Krispy Kreme
donut delivery truck does the same thing hitting the pickup.
I am the first one to get there.
The snow is blowing horizontal and the wind is probably 30 mph
or stronger. I drove about 40 mph to the wreck. That was definately
too FAST.
Driver of the pickup walks up the embankment to my truck.
I put him in the front seat and turn the heater on high.
I walk/stumble down thru the snow and weeds to the other truck.
Its rear tires are sitting in 8 inches of water in the bottom of the ditch
Thankfully my boots are waterproof. The poor EMS people had
regular shoes on and their feet were numb by the time we got the
lady out and loaded.
The local trooper came and worked the accident.
We were there for about 2 hours.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
AND I HAVE HAD TO LISTEN TO STUPID DONUT JOKES ALL DAY..............
