    toys for the needy

I don't want to sound like a scrooge when I say this but I'm tired of the very nice church ladies and all the people who donate their time and money giving to the "needy" at Christmas. Let me clarify what I'm saying. Their intentions are pure and good but the receiver's intentions are not. At work on Saturday, an officer from another jurisdiction escorted a big tour bus to deliver presents to the needy children in the neighborhood. They pulled up to no less than 4 well known drug houses. They all knew the "Santas" were coming so they moved their Escalades and Expeditions with spinner wheels to the alley. These leeches take from these kind hearted people. They also collect SSI (one because he was shot in a dope deal gone bad), welfare and whatever they can get. Most of them have arrest records longer than my arm. I feel really bad for the kids in these homes because they're family could provide a nice Christmas for them between the govt money and the dope money. What these very kind Santas passed up were the people who truly needed their help but are too proud to "get in the system". There are several houses on the block that have single moms working 2 jobs, couples who are working bare bones to put food on the table and none of them would dream of asking for help. The wife, kids and I delivered some food and toys to a few houses on Sunday. They were surprised to see I'm an actual person with a family. They were so humble about receiving it and at first didn't want to. We just thought it was the right thing to do. We plan to do more next year and are hoping to talk to some of the soc. svc. agencies to ask the precincts who REALLY needs Christmas. One of the single moms cried and hugged me and said "it's Christmas Eve and the kids have no toys. Now they do! How can I thank you!?"
