Did crime where you work increase, decrease, or stay the same on Christmas? Did people react differently to you than usual (with more cheer and goodwill, or alternatively with more anger)?

Family reunions + excessive alcohol consumption = Domestic Violence...
At the bank it's business as usual, mostly because it's 2 blocks away from the PD.
At the retail store where I work part time LP, crooks seem to get more creative during the holiday season.
Hats, oversized clothing, suits, fake facial hair, we get all kinds.
Once I remember we caught a guy, banned him, then he came back after 2 weeks with a hat on, and his face covered in black shoe polish, hoping we wouldn't recognize him.

I worked Christmas Day of 2004 and 2005. I noticed a significant decrease in the number of radio runs that I was called to handle. I pulled up radio runs from the other Cincinnati Police Districts on my MDT and they seemed less active as well. Citizens in general seemed more friendly and jovial. Gray Patriot is correct regarding family get togethers and alcohol (or other drugs) resulting in domestic violence. I guess I lucked out on Christmas and didn't have any DV's...Thanksgiving and Easter were different stories.

Government holiday = Most employees and visitors home instead of on government property = less crime.
#17 in your program, #1 in your hearts.
Less. Usually I go on 10 calls a night. Christmas day (evening really) I went on 3 alarms and a barking dog call

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards wont get away this time

It was mostly domestics, loud party calls, and DUI-T/C's. Yawn.
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
Very few arrests that I remember for Christmas Eve and Christmas Night. Most of the offenses on my watch (3rd) were alcohol and/or domestic related. I personally had to take two people to jail for public intoxication (drunk in public) because getting intoxicated wasn't enough. They had to walk down the middle of a street telling everyone about it. Oddly enough, no DUI's.
Many complaints of loud noise. All of the offenders got warnings on the first visit. There were no repeat complaints to the same locations. Everyone was willing to comply, for at least a couple of nights.

We had one rollover crash. They left the vehicle in the middle of the road ( rural area) and never bothered to call PD. Hmmmmmm , I wonder why ??

Starting with Saturday, two shootings, one fatal. Three stabbings, one fatal. Three fatality collisions, 3 suicides, and a couple fatal OD's.
For the EMS guys, you'd be amazed how many elderly and heart attacks cashed out on Christmas day. It's been VERY busy for them.
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

Got my first DWI on Christmas night. The young lady was just a little tipsy, i.e. falling on her face!
A verified tag would have been a nice gift too, but alas no such luck:p
