Greeting from South FL. I am going to take my CJ-BAT on Wednesday. Any advice from some one who has taken it recently.
Thanks in advance. [COLOR=blue][SIZE=3][FONT=courier new]

Yeah, you'll do fine. I just took mine. I'm in sunny/wet South Florida too. What to expect: paragraph comprehension, spelling, sentence structure, graphs, and other verbal analysis questions. There are a lot of questions, so don't get bogged down or it'll hurt you when the man or lady says "30 more minutes." They have books to review for this; the local bookstore on the campus you are probably taking this on sells prep books, but I went into the test cold and did great on it. Good luck
Thanks BCD. Are you talking with a recruiter? Where do you hope to get on. Have you taken the TABE. yet?
I took the swim test last month. I would like to score 80% or higher on the CJ-BAT. My first choice DEPT. wants a minimum of 80% on the BAT,and for the TABE thay want 12.9 in language, 12.9 in reading and 11.0n math.
The physical agility will not be a prolem, my concern is the math.
I am considering geting a math tutor before I take the TABE test.
Let me know what you think. If there is any thing I can help you with don't hesitate to let me know. Good luck.

A handful of departments and more to come are doing away with the TABE requirement. Plus, some departments will allow you to be exempt from it if you have a 2 year degree I think. The only other department I have to check about this is Pembroke Pines Police, but BSO and Hollywood no longer require the TABE. I have seen some practice questions, though, regarding the TABE. It is basically a GED level test, even easier (it could also be compared to the military ASVAB test); schools usually use the TABE before being admitted into a vocation such as nursing. Very basic algebra on it, and I mean like basic "solve for x" problems (free math advice: when in doubt, plug in one of the answers and see if it fits the problem). Adding and subtracting fractions, maybe a distance problem, and of course finding the "sale of an item if it's 15% off" type of question. You can probably find a math skills site on the internet to brush up on some basic rules that will surely help you on the math part of the TABE. I never talked to a recruiter, actually, until you mentioned it, I never knew they had them for police. I hope for either Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, BSO, or State Trooper. For kicks I've also applied to the Secret Service. For some practice questions about the TABE, go here http://216.239.53.104/search?q=cache...hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Good luck, and which cities do you have your eye on?
Question, Is the passing score 80 percent or higher on the CJ- bat exam with most Florida agencies. I tried to find out if it was 70 or 80 percent with FHP but guess no one knows.
Hello all. I took the CJ.BAT. today. I feel I did well, maybe high 80's
or low 90's. The passing score is 70%. Most DEPT's want a minimum of 70. Pembroke Pines wants 80% or better.
BCD. I have been talking with a recruiter at Pines. I think I will take the physical agility test in a couple weeks and put in my application at Hollywood and B.S.O. and any other DEPT that does not require the TABE.
I will take the TABE after that and apply to some other DEPT as well.
I don't care where I get on as long as thay put me through the academy. I will give them a year and if I don't like that DEPT I will transfer to another. Once you are a certified officer it is a lot easier to get on with the DEPT of your choice. Good luck to you all.

Will they tell me what I need to bring to the test i.e calculator? Whats the hardest questions they ask on the cj-bat?
The CJBAT is extremely easy, and ya'll shouldn't worry about it. It is a test that needs to be passed in order to be accecpted by most academies. Most academies are ran through community colleges, and they require some type of test to be accepted.
The real test will be the CMS state exam!
It is my understanding that some PDs have done away with T.A.B.E. as a requirement. Have they replaced it with another test or is the process shorten with only agility, swim and Bat?
