Im thinking perhaps a fuse box of some sort for a vehicle... perhaps for when you add electrical equipment like sound/lights
It makes sense and that's what I thought too. But it looks like it's designed to actually fit onto something(like clip-on like a wiring harness). Plus, it would have to take the ugly little fuses if that's what it was.
I think it's a fuse box too, check out Jeg's.

Once the sun goes down all the weirdos turn crazy-Homer Simpson
Maybe it is, it just doesn't seem right to me. I wish I could find this exact one somewhere.
It is an electrical connector, typically found on wiring harnesses in vehicles. The style and fit will depend on the year, make and model.
I doubt it is a fuse panel because of the connector's design. It is intended to mate with the male side connector in a specific fashion.
What do you need something like this for? Maybe I can point you into the right direction. I've wired up several fuel injected motors in Jeeps.
I don't need it and I'd like to sell it but I need to know exactly what it is before I can do so. Every so often I get a shipment of Police Equipment that are leftovers from certain jobs, etc, and this was in the box. It is most likely for a police car or some sort of police application seeing as it came from Fleet Safety. I was hoping someone here would recognize it.
I can't tell you exactly what that is, but it is an automotive connector.
I am willing to bet it is the one that is under the dash near the driver side firewall for the accessories to wire into on Police model Crown Vics or whatever vehicle. Ford made a pigtail available off there factory wiring harness for the addition of lights, sirens, radios, switches etc. We have them, but they are never used by our fleet services. They wire it in themselves instead of using Ford's existing pigtail.
Thanks! My best is that it's for the Impalas, since that is pretty much all they use here in Texas. Now if I could only get a part number!!
