It depends on the agency. We have about 1 pass out the first day in every new class. The one who passed out in the class we have graduating discovered a medical condition when he passed out and quit.

In Mississippi if you have completed at least half of the Academy (ours is 10 weeks) and you have passed the 3rd and 6th week PT test and you get injured and cannot complete the ninth week PT test, the minimum boards and standards can go ahead and pass you.... But, it depends on your previous PT test and your academic scores....:D

It's not uncommon for some recruits to pass out during PT or from standing at attention with their knees locked for too long. As long as it's not indicative of something more serious, usually they'll have you see a doctor or be treated by an ambulance before you are sent back to class.
You can get hurt, as long as you don't miss a certain amount of time in PT/Self-defense class due to your injury. Once that happens, you go into a "recycle" program until you are certified fit for class again, then you rejoin a different class that is now at the same week you left your old one (at the 10 week point, or whatever).
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
The first day of the academy I had ot sit down at some point from the heat. I was wearing a suit, and it was about 90 degrees/no ventilation/middle of july/standing at attention. That was the only time. I didn't get thrown out/reprimanded. If I made a habit of it, it probably would have been addressed though.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

We had one pass out. They found out they had asthma, got treatment and still in the class.
