    Question of the day......

As a professional letter carrier, and yes I did say professional-hehehe, I get to see everything as I walk around. My question is why do some LEOs take great care of their POVs- washing, waxing with tire gels but yet their cruisers looks dirty. I saw a (not going to mention the department) cruiser today and man it looked like something that went mudding a few days ago, why is that? Are we that busy that we can't keep our personal cruisers clean? That should be a must cause we, yes we, represent our city plus the department. It also says alot to the general public. Nuff said.

I agree that our agency cars should be kept clean and presentable to the public, but I will always spend more time, money and effort on my personal cars than I ever would on an agency car.

Professionalism and appearance are important, but I pay for my car.

Probably because that agency has pool cars. You show up at the beginning of your shift, you are told which car to get into. My agency has permanently assigned take home cars, as well as our own car wash. I keep my car clean, but that's because I have to drive in it every day. If it wasn't "my" car, I wouldn't care so much.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards wont get away this time

An amateur will train until they get it right. A professional will train until they can't get it wrong.

I hear what you are saying but for everyone here in south Florida, there shouldn't be any excuse- everyone here pretty much has a take home. I wonder what they have to say.

I work in a pretty rural county. A lot of farming goes on and there are a TON of dirt roads and what not. It is inevitable that my car will be a dusty brown by the end of the shift. It is accepted, and instead of wasting taxpayer dollars washing after everyshift, we just make the inmates do it!:D

We have both.......pool cars are always dirty. Assigned vehicles (take-home) are kept clean and waxed. When I was stuck driving a pool car, I would always give it a bath if it needed it. I did and still do take pride in a professional appearance. A professional appearance, both vehicle and personal, goes a long way. I would add more but............

The must is upholding the laws...

But, yes.... ours are take home and we are expected to keep them presentable when we aren't held up by call volume.

We have assigned but not take home cars. Some cruisers are out on the road 24/7 for a day or two in a row and with 80 square miles of area , they aren't always clean.

However, we have a deal with a local carwash that we can run them through as much as we want. I always get after the daybabies to hit the wash.
