Sorry guys, it just doesnt work..............

throwing the spot light out the window just before the nice LEO stops you doesnt get you out of the charge of poaching.:p
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

It is illegal here ( PA ) to use your headlights for spotting ( when spotting isn't legal , as in during hunting season).

Which is why I use the patrol car spotlight any time of year...

I got pulled over in my patrol car for supposedly spotlighting deer with my spotlight. I told the F&W (Fish and Wildlife) officer, that I was looking for cars parked in the area of the lakes. Heck, I'm worried enough of hitting the things while responding to a call....why would I want to spotlight one?? I see 3 or 4 a night just driving around my ward :D

Wow! I hope you were in an unmarked car. I can't imagine a game warden being so gung-ho that he'd pull over a marked unit to accuse him of spotlighting deer!

    +1

Umm, yeah! I see a lot of spotlights, lots of poachers, "farmers" with spotlights for "checking irrigation pipe", but I am not thinking that I would stop a marked unit, or even light up an unmarked unit (if you do, then the real poachers know where you are...)

It's more fun to sneak up out of the bushes and watch them fill their pants:D

I had some possible deer poachers about a month ago. Lights in an alfalfa field at 0400. I hit the cut-outs and drove out there. Come to find out, it was the farm hands flood irrigating the field that I was driving in. Made for an interesting, messy morning! The farmer called later and he was furious, but he said I scared the dickens out of his workers. Never did say why he was flooding a field at 0400 in below freezing temps...

Do the deer in your area have to take the same driver's test as humans, or is their's different? :D
