    “Specialties”

Okay, so this is my first post on the RP forums. Don’t flame me to bad. I was wondering if there is a standard time you must be a patrol officer before you can apply for special functions, or is it up to the individual department? By special functions I mean SWAT, K-9 officer, etc. Any information or criticism would be appreciated. Thanks

This has been asked many times.

Mine was three years minumum. Sometimes they would get the baby-faced guys just off FTO to work dope, usually 6 months after the academy.

3 years on patrol before being able to apply for specialized positions. Usually you won't get anything with just 3 years though. Normally it takes about 5 until you really have a chance of getting the positions.
