    Canadian LEO's...

I know there are a few Canadian LEO's here, but are any of you an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police? I have a few questions concerning their hiring process and how things work once you're hired, none of which is mentioned on their website.

Or if any of you know a considerable amount of information on the OPP, and you feel that you could probably answer my questions accurately, feel free to toss me a PM and we'll get right to it.

    Thanks.

(for those of you who may be wondering, I'm considering going for the OPP before the RCMP, mostly to get some experience in the field.)

You took your family and joined in the urban sprawl... can't see the stars as well but you're near the mall.

Before you can even apply you need the OACP certificate. You can get more info on that here

    http://www.applicanttesting.com/policing.htm

Then a bit more research gets you this,

The O.P.P. is currently hiring qualified candidates for Provincial Constable and Cadet classes.

What does it take to be a member of the O.P.P. team? It takes people with integrity, accountability, courage, caring and fairness. It takes people from diverse backgrounds to represent the community we serve. It takes people who enjoy working with others and want to build strong, positive relationships characterized by mutual respect in all types of settings and circumstances ... people who really want to make a difference in the lives of others. We deeply embrace the principle that a diverse population is best served by a similar diversity of police officers. To maintain its tradition of excellence, the O.P.P. seeks to hire as police constables, people representative of the cultural and racial diversity of the province we serve.

If you think you have what it takes to become a part of something special, apply today to be a police officer with the Ontario Provincial Police.

All Registration and Application documentation is to be forwarded to:
    Ontario Provincial Police
    Human Resources Bureau
    ATTN: Uniform Recruitment
    777 Memorial Avenue
    Orillia, ON L3V 7V3

NOTE: We do NOT accept registration and application documentation via email.

    E-Mail: opp.uniform.recruitment@jus.gov.on.ca

    Website: www.opp.ca

The OPP will also conduct the Pre-Interview Assessment procedures and will issue Certificate of Results to successful candidates.

Lucky for you it looks like they're hiring. You'll start out as a cadet. Then 13 weeks of Police College then 5 weeks (give or take a week) more training with the OPP.

    Good luck.

PS I don't work for that organization though.
