We have a mall and get shoplifting calls constantly. All LP needs is someone concealing merchandise. It's a separate charge if they make it out of the building or walk past the checkout.

We show up and ID the subject. If it is an adult we check their history. 2 or less larceny convictions means it is a petit larceny unless they got more than $200 which is rare. A third offense is a felony and a trip to jail regardless of the amount taken.

We confirm that LP has probable cause.

If the suspect is releasable on a summons we do that and subpoena the LP. We don't even have to be there, just LP. They prosecute their own cases.

If it is a felony or otherwise not summonsable we take them to the magistrate and swear out the warrants. Once again, we subpoena the LP and don't have to be in court.

I get the arrest stat on my work sheet and I don't have to bother with court.

Juveniles are surprisingly more simple. We provide the information to LP that they need to obtain juvenile petitions and then release the juveniles to a responsable adult. Still counts as an arrest too.

Can you mount the camera right up against the glass and then construct a shroud to block the ambient light from within the room? Similar concept to a center brake-light inside the rear window of a car will have a shroud to stop the light from making the inside of the car glow red.
