Tonight was crazy. We were insane busy. An early call, I was not involved with, was a robbery. The guy fled on foot. K9 tracked to the gun and the money and the supect was nabbed a short distance away by other officers.
Then we got a stabbing. This guy got ventilated. He had multiple stabs and cuts all over. The two big stabs on his chest were all opened up and you could see meat and organs. The one on his leg was pumping blood. You know it's bad when rescue looks at it and quickly racks them up and runs off to the hospital without the normal stabilization.
Right before end of shift I was wandering around looking for two gang bangers in a car who just tried to rob someone. I saw them and they ran from me. We were all over a neighborhood, constantly making turns. Two different backups took up secondary with me but couldn't hang and lost us. Finally the guy pulled away from me in a straightaway I wasn't willing to do 70 on. He totally lost it in an intersection. A hump in the road threw up the back end and he fishtailed off the road. Tail light, headlight, tail light, headlight, tail light, headlight... The car actually damaged part of the roof of a house before taking out the porch. Shiny side down, greasy side up. Not only did they live but they crawled out and ran which only made it easy for the K9 to get a bite and other officers got the other occupant a block away.
Good times. Good times.
I'm 3 hours late for bed.
