Prince William County PD in VA

Anyone know much about this agency? I was looking at relocating to NC, but the soon to be wife doesn't seem like she wants to leave the NoVA area. That and the NC retirement system is not the best. I have viewed the website and was just looking for more information. Thanks.

My advice? Get as far away from NoVA as you can. If you want to work in VA there are plenty of great departments in the southern part of the state (mountain, central, and tidewater) that are hiring and won't be NEAR the headache, cost of living, etc that NoVA is.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards wont get away this time

I agree with Podz. Northern Virginia agencies tend pay a bit more than the rest of the state, but the cost of housing is generally double, or higher. Officers in Northern Virginia agencies who want to be non-ghetto homeowners frequently have to commute an hour or more each way.

If you insist on staying in Northern Virginia, Prince William County is a pretty good choice. They just had a huge substation built, which indicates that the community and government supports them. They are also one of the few agencies in the area that has their own academy. Check out Fairfax County also -- they have one of the better retirement programs in the area, not to mention some of the best toys around.
