Off-duty deputy involved in deadly shooting

A teenager is dead after being shot by an off-duty Portsmouth sheriff's deputy Monday night.
Around 8:00 p.m., police were called to the Victory Crossing Shopping Center.
Authorities say the off-duty sheriff’s deputy had left a store and was at his car when two people approached him and pulled a gun in an apparent carjacking.
The deputy showed his badge and pulled his weapon and at some point, he fired.
The 15-year-old boy’s aunt says he’d been out with friends and doesn’t know what could have sparked the gunfire.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released and no details about the situation have been released.
13News has leanred the deputy has 30 years in law enforcement and 20 years with the Portsmouth Sheriff's office.
He works security at the Portsmouth Courthouse and was on medical leave at the time.
He is now on administrative duty as the Portsmouth Police conduct an investigation."In memory of DCLaw- EOW@RealPolice 02-20-2007.

According to his Aunt, he was just a 15 year old boy in the wrong place at the wrong time.
