I heard the driver was also a state employee, ( Highway dept, or something similiar) and also got fired. I will dig up the link.

One thing I was taught about issuing citations to irate people (or most people in general) was do not read the amount of the cite or point it out to them at the time of issue. This the same for others?

    Nice, everyone loves a liar.

The "clueless and dumb" ones always get tickets from me. It's the one chance we have to actually punish someone for being "clueless and dumb." If you want a break from me, admit your mistake and ask for one. I don't give breaks to liars and I don't give breaks to people who are driving with their head up their backside and don't notice the speed limit or how fast they were going.

Have some red. Hopefully your little line will get you a ticket next time too.

I remember in my young, stupider days (bout 4-5 yrs ago :D ) I used to play the "dumb and clueless" routine. I remember getting stopped one night one of the most commonly used roads in the city 45 in a 35. The officer approached and asked how fast was I going, "Uh, I dont know" ... he advises I was doing 45 then asks do I know how fast the speed limit is?... "Uh... no?" ... from there he gets a little bit of a gruff attitude (and rightfully so!) and says, "You dont know how fast it is on xxxxxxxxx Road?!" so naturally I respond... "Well, I know its 40mph down the road" ... to which he responds, "Well, thats down there. Not here" and asks why I am going so fast, to which I admit I fed a ridiculous BS story about having to turn off some stuff at my home...
Fortunately he let me off that night... I seriously thought I was getting cited on that one.

Now that I look back on that, I kick myself everytime... I cant believe I could have brought myself to have made such an *** of myself. From that point Ive always been straight up and outright with the officer... and if I truly dont know why I am being stopped, I guess I will advise the officer I dont know, but I'll make an educated guess, though everytime Ive been stopped thusfar, Ive known EXACTLY why.

The best part of my verbal judo classes wasn't this video, it was the fact that the instructor kept calling it "gerbil voodoo."

p.s. Inspector Clousseau, this is a PRO-cop site. Your secret is out. Just for that little admission, in case it is you, I'm going to write the next clueless, dumb, respectful person I come across.
I was out with my boyfriend Friday night. I left his place at about 12:30 at night, I was driving on the freeway back to my place, and guess what? I got pulled over:

As soon as the officer reached my window, before he got to say anything I asked him how fast I was going.

    -Him: 73
-Me: What is the speed limit, is it 60 or 65?
    -Him: 50
-At this point I acted all confused and said: wow I was going really fast, sorry about that.

He asked for my driver's licence and started asking questions about what I did for a living and where I worked and get this HE DID NOT EVEN TAKE MY LICENCE BACK TO HIS CAR to check my record, he gave it back to me right then and there and told me to be safe.

So, I was not trying to offend anybody here with my remark few weeks ago, all I was trying to say is that what I do works, it seems to get me out of tickets. So, you should not be mad at me. I know I should not be speeding, I just follow traffic and most people speed, again I am not saying it's right, it's just one of those things in life, we all make mistakes.

That's about how my stops go when I'm looking for drunks or drugs. I'm not interested in speeding tickets, I want to decide whethere to get them out for FST's or not. If I'm not going to test them I'm going to get rid of them ASAP so I can get to the next car.

If he was supposed to be writing tickets you would have gotten one, guaranteed for that speed. He was fishing for something else.

This kind of attitude is dangerous for your community, the officers who have to catch up to you to stop you, and we don't like liars. Your attitude is anti-law and order and incompatible with this site.
