"...Our natural, inalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment.” Ronald Reagan
"Those who beat their weapons into plows will be plowing for those who don't."
This is total B/S and I can't stand it when parents look everywhere else but in the mirror. If you don't think your kid can handle a game, book, story, etc. - then guess what...DON'T LET HIM GET IT! These parents just aren't taking responsibility for their actions. I have been shooting weapons since before I could hold it myself, my Grandfather or Dad holding it for me while they taught me sighting and such - guess what - they also taught me GUN SAFETY. The normal rules we learn, don't point it at anything you don't intend to shoot, make sure it's unloaded, etc. Long story short, the fact they blame a video game for a total lack of upbringing astounds me.
Also, I'll back up the post by DB839282, I have read some things and been in classes where they covered what he is talking about. Basically due to the "live action" look of video-games it takes away from the instinct that most have that causes them to "pause" when faced with taking a human life. That's why training changed just as he said. With the video-games like they are now, it is, and will continue to HELP create a more violent criminal for the future because of this instinct being repressed more and more.
Just my 2 cents.

Wait until THIS kid gets ahold of a gun... lol
FWIW, I DO believe society as a whole has been desensitized to many things, video games being just one of many factors, BUT I definitely believe that poor parenting is a much larger problem.
On the flip side, I think it's a lot harder to bring kids up properly these days. I think there are more families where both parents work. I think there are less hours in a day in which we can spend quality time with our kids. And I think there are way more negative and severely negative influences out there affecting (consciously and subconsciously) our kids, especially during those hours when we're not there with them...
