Hey all I just found out yesterday that my dad got a letter in his file and a commendation is most likely on the way and I wanted to share the story.
A few weeks back He responded to a group of teens 16-18 involved in a possible robbery. When he and another officer arrived one kid was detained and another broke off into a sprint into the woods. My father gave chase and found the kid hiding behind the tree. The kid then ran some more jumping over a guard rail not realizing that there was a 9 foot drop below.
He fell hitting his head landing face down in a creek not breathing. My dad rushed down the embankment, pulled him out of the creek and carried him back up onto the road. He and another officer gave CPR reviving him. Upon arrival to the hopsital the kid was in a coma and stayed that way for 3 days. He has since made a full recovery.
I had to post this, sorry if it sounds like I am gushing but I am very proud of my dad and he as well as moments like that are the reasons why I chose to try and become a police officer!
