I assume your talking about the City of NY. If so, I don't have much to comment on, but lots of people here are from there and will be able to help you.

Come out west to Buffalo, and I will show you the Niagara Falls and the best places for beer, wings, and pizza.

The tourist areas are for the most part safe, especially during hte day. Just use common sense, and don't make it easier for you to become a vitim (ie getting extremely intoxicated, walking around with a big wallet in your back pocket, etc. )

You COULD take a quick trip through East New York and then on to Bed-Stuy, travel west into Bushwick and head into say Manhattan. There one could make a northern excursion to Harlem and make sure you see the Washington Hts area. Then on over to the Bronx. Well the south bronx is ok I guess.
    .

OH WAIT . You wanna make it out without being carjacked, mugged and attempted to have drugs sold to you?? Stay away from the above...Visit Upper East and West side. Go to Chelsea Piers and make sure you go to Jeckyl and Hydes on 7th ave. south. SONT go into the MONSTER club IF its still there...

I believe that there is potential danger no matter where you go, shopping centers, beaches, streets, Starbucks and Macy's.

Use common sense and don't wear your Rolex while diddyhopping down on Broadway late at night. ;)

The Broadway at midnights is really cool, but - an Rolex? I think this is an cop forum. I do not have the money for an Rolex (need all for the Ferrari and the three ships:D ), I'm happy if I can pay an beer at the end of an month;)
