Their management policies suck, and you can see the effects of the poor moral on the troops.
Years ago DPD was THE place to work. Today it is THE place to avoid.

Wow....I had NO idea it was THAT bad.
We live just n/e of Dallas, so we get DFW news broadcasts....
I THOUGHT the new chief was doing good.....?
Merry Christmas, y'all!

I have an extended family member in the DPD who loves Chief Kunckle - But that's in comparison to former Chief Bolton, who was a clown and embarassment to the whole city.
TX, what are the issues besides low pay, high crime, and too few officers?
Lowering physical agility standards for Reserves is a plus to me - As soon as my knee heals up, I'm applying :D - But the strange thing is, they will not tell me what the standards actually are!!! It would be nice to have a list of them as goals to meet, before I actually show up on their doorstep
OH BY THE WAY - Don't take the $10k signup bonus too literaly. It's $6k when you get into the Academy, but you don't get the other $4k for another 18 months, as I remember, if you're still on the job.
you think thats bad, try livin in dallas theyre everywhere

Oh also...
No one mentioned that Chief Kunckle has recently fired something like 15 or 20 officers over the last couple of months - I lost track of the exact number, but one report said he'd fired over 30 officers since he took office.
It sounded like most of them needed firing, though.
Is this Coast Guard vs. Army?Originally Posted by chewy

If the Coast Guard did the same I might just sign up again!

I think Kunckle is doing good. However, he has years of mismanagement to try to repair, and that moronic mayor does not make it any easier for him.Originally Posted by SERENAs UNIT
Did you see the Becky Oliver story on the Dallas officers at Love Field? It is unacceptable that all of that was going on. No one knew.
That is just an example.

I used to support Mayor Miller until she screwed the cops out of the pay raises she promised, and treated the Guardian Angels' founder Curtis Sliwa shamefully when he came to town - In fact they still have my & Bob Weir's letter on their site.Originally Posted by txinvestigator1

Weir is a retired NYPD Sgt and runs a local newspaper - Here's the full text of his encounter with the Guardian Angels & Mayor Miller:

He's also a regular contributor to the American thinker - I think you'd like this one too:

Any-hoo, now I just consider Miller another Democrat who needs to leave office, even though she's done some very good things, such as helping to get rid of Chief Bolton and leading the crusade against spending taxpayer money on sports stadiums. She has made several anti-gun comments so I don't want her in higher office.
Dear CincyCop,
The fact that you are taking pictures in the men's bathroom scares me. You need to seek help. Please warn other RP members when you are about to taka a picture.
:D :D
1. Serve the public trust
2. Protect the innocent
3. Uphold the LAW
Chief Kunkle seems to have his stuff together, from what I've read. But with a lousy city government there is onyl so much you can do.
If they're in dire need of Officers they should lose the degree requirement. Lots of people without degrees would love to give it a shot.
I somewhat agree. They just don't offer enough incentive to work there with a degree, when other departments in the area pay more, have higher morale, better equipment etc.Originally Posted by madsnax
