Had my first real foot pursuit. I say 'real' because I had a minor one earlier that lasted from the front yard to the back, but this one lasted 2 and half blocks.
It was only 97 degrees today, thank God. Yesterday was 105 and I certainly would of died. Anyways, the suspect began to gain distance between me and I thought I was going to lose him. He turned the corner around the house and tried to double back, but ran into a fence. When I found him he was just as gassed as me trying to hide next to the fence. A deputy was helping me out and he was slim, trim and in shape. When he arrived he was huffing too and plopped on the suspect as I held him at gun point. I didn't feel too bad that I was gassed when I saw a 20 something deputy and a early 20's suspect just as gassed as me. (I'm 35 and big, 6-04 255lbs).
It only took me an hour to stop sweating. I learned that I need to hit the treadmill. The suspect ran earlier in the day from another officer and got away. We went on an ATL and someone snithced him off. Nice felony warrant, DOC warrant, reckless driving from earlier and resisting arrest for today.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Anyone else want to share?
