Im not a cop. Would like to be though.
I know its customary to announce your presence on a new board, when your a new member. So here I am, announcing my presence.

I work Casino Security.

I had aspirations of being a Fire Medic, just completed my first responder back in June. I was going to do my EMT-B this fall follwed by EMT-2 next spring. Then off to some college fire classes.

It all stoped on a dime about a month ago when I realized that as a security officer I was doing what I like to do.

Enforce the rules, talk with the people, be first on scene to medical calls, catch the bad guys, write reports, gather information for investigations, etc.

I had an epifinany (sp?) that I wanted to be a cop. No questions asked.
I love my job, and looking forward to expanding my horizons in the future.

Besides I love guns to much to run around with a stethoscope (sp?)

Welcome aboard!! I can see you have a lot of enthusiam for the job, and from the way you sound, you have the right motives.

Probably the most important thing that you should get from your job is satisfaction. Whatever job that may be. Not everyone wants to or can be a police officer. Whatever you decide, if you arn't happy ( not all of the time mind you) , you won't last.

Yeah you gotta be happy.
Just smiling when the **** hits the fan is sometimes all it takes to put you back into the right frame of mind.
I have worked in these service type fields for a while now.
I was an animal control officer for two years, that was the greatest job I ever had. And by far the most rewarding.
While doing that I got a taste of how a police department works, and how to do reports right the first time. LOL

You are correct. However, thousands of people die in car accidents and I will continue to drive for many, many years.
I also look forward to many years of motorcycle riding as well.

Getting shot at when trying to do your job and enact justice I assume is just part of the risk.

I work security in a Casino as you know, and the people they deal with on Reno 911 fits our little big city to a tee.
I dont know how the county agency feels about it, but I know for sure that thier suspects are not a stretch at least in a casino enviroment.


BTW I watch Reno 911, all the time. Its hysterical!

What they make fun of is so Reno. I know they film it in SoCal, but whomever did the researching immersed himself enough in Reno culture to get it just right.

Go sharks? I used to live in the Bay Area. But I was a traitor and have been a Avalanche fan since they became a team.

I have played roller hockey for many years, 4 years on a all mens league as the only chick. Even though I havent played in 3 years, I still got it. Or at least I thought I did LOL Went to the rink a couple months back right, and Im feeling fine...thinking hey hey look at me...little miss hot stuff..still got it after all those years (yeah all 3lol).
So I decide in my infinite wisdom to skate in the "Advanced" backwards skate session.

Yeah well I shoulda stuck with the kiddies and done the beginner session...cuz I did a hail mary fall onto both of knees after my feet got tangled up with one another in a turn.

Docs never told me what damage I actually did, and refused to do an MRI. I was laid out in a bed for month though.

I have been riding motorcycles for a long time, and my knees have been so abused that Im lucky I havent done any major damage to them.
