Where I work every officer and civillian gets patted down before entering the instituion. The other day the Assistant Warden came through the lobby with a pen knife on his person (I'm not sure where he had it). any way the officers conducting the search missed it. (I all ready know that they were wrong) Any ways, the assistant warden went on into the institution with the knife and presented it to those in the opperations area. In essence he intentionally brought a weapon into a secure environment. Was this smart? Why couldn't he show it to the pat down officers and say "Hey look what you missed" He is the assistant warden and did not need to carry the weapon into the prison to make his point. All he had to do was tell the supervisors what happened, he didn't need the knive as proof. No one got jammed up over this I am just wondering what others think.
Also (hypothetically) what if the officers had found the weapon. What would have happened then. By rights they should have called the supervisors and the state police and hauled him out of the institution in cuffs. I know the assistant warden would have said it was just a test good job. Of coarse he would say that even if it wasn't a test since he got caught. How would the officers in the lobby know if he was telling the truth or not? Do you think the assistant warden acted responsibly in his actions?
