    Got all my equipment...

I've been having many difficulties fitting all of my equipment onto the belt, as I'm only a 34" waist.

Somehow, amidst all this confusion, I need to find somewhere to fit the M26 taser holster... The only way I can do that is if I get rid of a pair of cuffs, but it was "highly recommended" we carry 2 pairs at all times!

Academy starts on Monday, I'm so excited!

I've never carried 2 pair of cuffs on my belt. I have several additional sets in my equipment bag, however. If you're worried about space, you could get a double-pouch. But those tend to be tough on your back.

    Hey Spaceman,

I thought of a new setup for your duty belt for you, it might work if you try it. :D

    Counter Clockwise from belt buckle:

    -Mace
    -Mag Pouch(Vertical)
    -Gun
    -ASP
    -Flashlight/Baton Ring
    -Glove Pouch
    -Handcuffs
    -Stinger
    -Radio Holder
    -Handcuffs
    -Taser

    Just might work.........

Carry a single pair of plasticuffs instead of a second pair of metal cuffs. Get a black one so it is hard to see ( unless they will fit inside your hat )

It may not be a bad idea to place keeper on both sides of your firearm (one on each side). It will not only keep the gun tied down (so when you draw you don't yank your belt up.. canting the holster... causing holster retention...) but it will ensure proper spacing between items. You don't need your pepper spray sliding a bit near your gun and then when you need it, you cannot unsnap that holder because the magazine is flush against the strap. Also, you don't want the strap/case of the spray snagging the firearm in any way. I cannot really tell if that would be a problem with the given photo... you would need to wear it and see for yourself.

    Foods for the thoughts.

Thanks for all the advice, it will be taken into consideration. I am going to play with it some more tonight, and will probably end up taking the second set of cuffs off.

    Anymore advice is welcome!

Edit -- Because I have such a small waist, there doesn't seem to be a problem with the placing of the handgun and the OC spray because of the curve. Although I will probably end up putting a second keeper on the back side of the weapon.

Well I'm not a LEO, but I know some and often ask why their belts look different from others. I was always told that each had their own set up of what "they" needed. Yes dept policy may specify the basics, but you know what I mean. So, wear it around and over time (hopefully not too long) you will figure out what "you" need or works best.

During FTO we are required to wear everything. After FTO we can then decide not to carry some things.

For instance, we're required to carry both the ASP 16" expandable and the ASP 125 straight stick. However, you won't see many regular officers carrying the huge stick around. :p

I see you have a cuff case up front, lose it. Loop the cuffs over your belt at some point.

Or...lose the glove pouch - put both cuffs on your back, taser up front. Put the gloves in your pocket or somwhere else. Sharp lookin rig though.

Or you can do what I did and gain 15 pounds and get a bigger waist. :D

I'm just finishing my processing with my local PD and looks like I most likely will be hired in the next month or so. My question is I am only a 32 waist is that going to make it difficult for me to manage a duty belt space wise?

    Hutchins - PM sent.

Roger Dat - It depends on how much equipment you plan on carrying. I will not be able to fit both a second cuff case and a taser holster, so I went ahead and got rid of the front cuff case. Play around with it a bit, vertical mag pouch saves a bit of room as opposed to horizontal, but makes it harder to bend down for me. Some Officers in my Dept. don't carry flashlights on their belt, so I could get rid of the Stinger and save some space - but I know as a rookie I'll end up on 2nd shift and will be spending 1/3 to 1/2 my shift in the dark.

I have one case for a sungle cuff and then use a strap for the other. I also keep my latex gloves in the pocket.

Hmmm. I have the same equipment for the most part, but have the entire back open plus the taser. I think that buckle system takes up too much room. I would get some of that stuff you back. That OC could be a back breaker... And metal radio clips take up less room. Just a suggestion

Edit: And I only have a 32 inch waist...
