Believe it or not that is the carpet on my dorm room, so it's fairly old and dirty. I'm living for free at college (it helps having been an RA) until I move into my apartment on the 1st of July.

That should make more room up front. What kind of taser??

It's an X26 taser, most Officers in the dept. wear it crossdraw, which is what I intended to do by swapping out the front cuff case.

Nice rig, now run over it a few times with your car so no one will know you're new. :D
J/K, enjoy the ride...because hard work awaits, but it's worth it.
God Bless you man.![]()
Studs right, If you ever get involved in a situation when you need OC and there's a crowd of poeple they will think your going for you gun and who nows that might happen.Originally Posted by michiganstud

I can't tell you how to wear your belt, you have to do what is best for you. However, I recommend carrying your OC up front, and your cuff's up front. If you get into a fight, and the ONLY way you have managed to gain control of the suspect's hands is with your right hand, and you have your cuff's on your back right side... Your going to have to change hands to handcuff the suspect, and risk loosing your control over the dirtbag. That's if someone isn't there right next to you with backup.
With your cuff's up front, you can easily grab them with both hands.
Just food for thought. :D

Question...
The department issued you all of your equipment (including gun) BEFORE you entered the academy? Sorry if i'm out of the loop, but are you yet sworn? Seems like it could be trouble to have a recruit with all of his equipment.
Is this a common practice?
Stay safe guys,

Try one of these for your second set of cuffs. It can double as a keeper too.

Not that anyone really cares, but I tried the Boston Leather strap before, and during anything physical (running, climbing, etc), the strap likes to un-do itself. Had no such issues with the Safariland strap.Originally Posted by Valor55

Why would that be? All of the items that an officer carries a civilian (in the US, not Canada) can own so what would be the harm in getting equipped prior to the academy? Chances are if someones immature enough to get in trouble with that gear and ruin their future career before it's even started, they're not going to get hired to begin with.Originally Posted by StrikeEagle
Also I'm not sure if his gun was issued to him or he had to purchase his own duty gun. But there's that possibility the firearm is his own. JMO
Here at the department I am a cadet with, if you get hired on, you start patrolling with an FTO with full duty gear including the issued beretta. If you get hired, you aren't yet sworn and haven't even been to the academy, but you still get to start working until the academy starts.Originally Posted by StrikeEagle
Agreed, the Boston strap seems to not hold on very well, even just jumping up and down. I currently have a Safariland strap which is very strong and holds on tight.Originally Posted by HailStorm
