    SWAT oral board

    Hey all,

It's been a while since I've visited and now I need your help, especially from you tactical operators (I.E.-Switchback etc.)

We have SWAT tryouts next week and I am confident in my physical abilities. However, I am concerned with the Oral Board we are partaking in. The board will ask 3 questions and I need the best responses possible. Can any of you think of any questions they might ask? I'm thinking use of force / deadly force policy questions, shoot no shoot questions and maybe the Why do you want to be SWAT. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everone in advance.

    Hey Moe!

My application process is a great deal different from most locals. Our application packet even has a psych portion sprinkled in there.

For the interview portion, we covered why you want on the team, first and foremost. They may also ask you in what ways can you contribute to the team better than those applicants with whom you are competing. There's a good chance they will want to know about your applying of the use-of-force policy in the past, as well as how you would apply it given a situation.

Most teams want a team player, a guy who will give 110% and someone who can get the mission done. Reliability and dedication, coupled with mature decision making, are the earmarks of a great operator!

Feel free to PM or email if you have more specific questions.

    Good Luck!!!

My oral board also started with why you want on the team, why you are more qualified than the other candidates, and what your role would be as the junior member. We are not full-time swat, so the board also asked a number of questions like how it would affect the family (3 am call outs, etc), and if I remember correctly there also a few use of force questions. I hope this helps, and feel free to pm if you'd like more specific info...

    Hey guys,

I really apprerciate all the support. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I should know something by next week. There are two slots and seven candidates. Our dept is fairly small so the competition is limited, but still competition. The range qualification might eliminate some of the people though.

LT you know the course of fire from the academy...450 out of 500. Should be no problem for me. I never have gotten stage fright for a range before.

    Again, thanks for the support.

we shoot a 50 round course with a minimum passing score of i think 400. farthest shots are from 25 yards, closet at 3. we use strong hand and weak hand only as well as both hands for our positioning. moe, you'll be fine man, i've got faith in ya bro!!
