    Meth Lab Question

Any officers/operators using SCBA for entries on meth labs? If so are you having any equipment issues? ie: helmet over mask, decon issues?

I got our dope guys small 15 minute SCBA's with extra wide visors for entry, but the new hotshot Sgt there decided they were tough enough not to use them. Helmet fits on the head okay. They use the fire dept's SCBA's for lab breakdown. As far as decon issues, with what? The equipment is easily decon'd.

We use the full SCBA (one hour tanks). Our masks are standard fire dept type. We seem to have a problem with the helmet chin straps interfearing with the mask. This has caused some operators to forgo the helmet (not a good idea). I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

We wear APR's for entry and rarely use SCBA's even for clean up. We haven't had a fit problem when wearing our helmets and masks, but I assume you must have visors on your helmets?
