How not to treat police officers

I heard this one second hand, so this is fuzzy on the details (some deliberately so).

A movie theatre recently decided that they needed more security. So they hatched upon a brilliant idea: give officers and their spouses free movie tickets.

So, a sergeant that I know decided that he might as well take them up on their offer, and went to the theatre. He went to enter the theatre, and they told him that he couldn't take his gun with him, pointing to a "No Weapons" sign on the door (which mean absolutely nothing in the state of Indiana). Not only was he a police officer (and they knew it), but he had also been involved in a nasty off-duty encounter resulting in a shooting a couple of years before.

Needless to say, he went home, and told his buddies what had transpired. No free security for this theatre, I predict.

i hate when places treat cops as if they dont have the capacity to have a gun....we are trained to use them and MOST of us are mentally stable enough to not use them unless absolutely necessary

I hear (never tried to carry there) where the Pittsburgh Steelers play at Heinz Field if you try to take a gun you have to store it away in a locker. So what if something major goes down? "Hold on please I need to get my gun out of the locker." Yes there are Pittsburgh Police there but im sure in the case of a major incident they wouldnt mind the backup. I guess you are supposed to sneak away as stealth as possible to get to the lockers near the front gate and get your gun.

    Unbelievable

Welcome to the liberal mindset. Guns are bad and no one can handle one safely. More and more I read about LE not being trusted with firearms, let alone a CCW holder.

How would they know he was armed? I carry everywhere I go and no one ever knows.

If they only found out when he badged them to get free admission, then he could eliminate the problem by paying for his ticket.

Even in that situation, if I for some reason decided to use my badge to get free movie tickets, when the geek at the ticket counter asked me if I was armed I'd have told him it was none of his business.

Sorry for the minor hijack that's coming, but that reminds me of something a mate of mine did.....

He and another guy were working the Tennis, The australian Open. They decided to go in and stand in the back areas and watch the game for a bit, as you do.
Some security guy who's done a three week course denied them access, because they didn't have the proper accreditation required to enter the arena.
Although unhappy, they wandered back to the police box where the Sergeants and other police were.
Minutes later, that same security guard comes running up asking for police - there's a fight in the stands.

"Sorry mate. We can't go in. We don't have the accreditation."

Needless to say, security complained, and while my mate didn't get into trouble, within a few days, all police working the tennis were issued with accreditation.

If they publicized something like that in NY, we would be told officially by the department that if we were to go, we would be subject to dept charges and dismisal.

A detail I forgot was that there was a uniformed off-duty officer working security a few feet away while this transpired. I would imagine he was a bit shocked, too.

We went to a Tampa Stingray baseball game while at a state comp 3 years ago. The officers at the front told my advisors (Sorry, no weapons). Advisor says "Don't worry, Im a Cop with X Department" And they say well sorry brother, we can't let anyone in with their weapons. My advisor nformed them that officers from 40 other departments were comming to this game then asked for a supervisor. After about 15 minutes of negotiations they let the advisors carry to the game.

Sorry ma'am. All our officers are tied up right now. We'll get someone there as soon as we can.

Had the same thing happened to us at a NFL game. Only one of us was carrying but they would not let her in the game. The security had the wand so she had to declare her weapon. They would not budge so she had to leave. Because she did not want to leave it in her car, she did not attend the game.
