I heard this one second hand, so this is fuzzy on the details (some deliberately so).
A movie theatre recently decided that they needed more security. So they hatched upon a brilliant idea: give officers and their spouses free movie tickets.
So, a sergeant that I know decided that he might as well take them up on their offer, and went to the theatre. He went to enter the theatre, and they told him that he couldn't take his gun with him, pointing to a "No Weapons" sign on the door (which mean absolutely nothing in the state of Indiana). Not only was he a police officer (and they knew it), but he had also been involved in a nasty off-duty encounter resulting in a shooting a couple of years before.
Needless to say, he went home, and told his buddies what had transpired. No free security for this theatre, I predict.
