Oh lord.

I just finished OC Spray class today, and I have to say....... THAT STUFF SUCKS.

So my instructor (one of my fellow officers on my shift, mind you) decided to volunteer me to be sprayed directly with OC. No one else took it like that, they got the fog. Bastards.

Being the "tough guy" I am, I went through the mini course, passed, and then as im walking to the water to decontaminate I say "Man wtf this isnt that bad at all". That was before a drop fell off my eye brow and into my eye. HOLY HELL, that burned!!!!!! A few of the girls freaked out when they saw what happened to me, and one threw thte baton after she got hit with the OC fog. My face sgtill feels like sosmee one slapped me across the face with a giant habanero.

when i was at the academy, everybody had ot be spray directly in the face(not the fog) then we had to go back to the police cruiser and give a complete description of the suspect on the radio. me i had to go to hospital after, I struck a nerve in my neck because of the pain of the pepper spray.

Anyways, a few weeks ago we were sprayed with the good ole OC. Some people had some seriously wicked reactions. One that will live with me forever is how this once chick reacted. It took her the longest to recover fully. We were sprayed on a Friday and the Monday after her eyes were still way sensitive to light. One of the funny things she did was scream out "WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO US. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!!!!" this was about 20 minutes after the initial spray and survival course. I don't think she got it any worse than anyone else, I just think she didn't handle it too well. One of the other things I thought was funny was she later found out that she may have to be sprayed again where she had got a job and started to talk about quitting just to avoid it. The running joke for the past few weeks has been whenever we are asked to do something we even remotely resent people start whining "Why are they doing this to us?" and "I don't understand it? Why?!"

Ahh...such unforgiving folks we are.

They're only fun when they happen to someone else. I'm glad my dept doesn't feel the need to spray us. I can testify in court just fine about what I read on the label of the can w/o having to endure the spray.;)

Actually, I posted this AFTER I had woken up, and taken a shower. I just didnt add the shower part. Yeah, THE SUCK. My internet went down, so i just hit post thread and left it at that.

I was sprayed at 1:15 this after noon. It was still dripping in when I took my shower, and after running around and sweating, it just burned like crazy, even after I scrubbed myself like a mad man in the shower.

I didn't have a problem with it the academy. Pissed me off to no end, but I used that anger on the bags.

However, a friend of mine, 5'02", 105 soaking wet, flipped out. When she was in the shower, (being a female, they had the metal dividers between the stalls), she freaked out so bad that she was hanging from the top of the divider, pulled one corner out of the wall, and bent down 18" of the metal divider like folding the corner of a piece of paper. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes later, I would never have believed her.

She was still feeling the effects 2 days later. It took me about 2 hours to totally get over it.

I'll have to do it again soon. We had a stream in a "Z" above the eyes, and I think my next one is the same. Not looking forward to it, but I have no choice. I feel sorry for the guy who has to rush me so I can deflect him to the ground. He's liable to turn into a human helicopter. :D
