My light turned green and as I started (I was in my patrol vehicle) to go thru the intersection I looked both ways. I have a habit of looking both ways before going thru an intersection. Good thing too because when I looked left I seen this car coming and looked like it wasn't going to stop. Yep, she didn't even look at her red light!


I stopped her but had to activate the siren to get her to stop. ID her and she was born in 1915!!!!!:eek:


That's right kiddies....She was 91! She said she was looking at the cars and didnt see the light. Going against my trafic nazi nature I didn't have the heart to write her. I did tell her that if she did that again I'd charge her and fill out a medical review form.


Good thing I kept an extra pair of underwear at work. :D

Hmmmm, sounds familiar to a story I ran into last weekend. Only I was part of the car with the old lady almost T-Boning another car. I was talking to her and telling her how to get to where we were going, she didnt look at the light and went flying into the intersection. Thank god it was early morning cause its usually very busy. She slammed on the brakes, stopped, and actually backed up to the light, I was just sitting looking a bit like this.... :eek:

I recently met a person that told me that when they were born, the Wright brothers had not yet gotten their aircraft into the air .... and not one person had yet been killed in an automobile accident. They said they heard that on television about another elderly person, and it was true for them as well.

I don't remember how old that is .... but the part about the auto fatalities stuck me as being an interesting tid-bit. It seems that fatalities are so common (and they seem to have been around forever) it was shocking to learn that people are still alive that were born before the vert first auto fatality in this country.

Well since the Wright Brothers first flight was Dec 1903, that would make them 103 at this point. (By the way, if you ever make it to the OUter Banks, NC, visit the Wright brothers memorial at Kitty Hawk, cool place)

Had to google the first fatality from a car crash, August 17 1896, which would put the person at 110.

Call me crazy, but I'm not sure you did her ... or her family... a favor. I think I might have let my "Nazi Nature" take over and get her a medical review... although in all reality a Dr. would have green lighted her anyway. You wouldn't have it on your conscience if something happened to her that was her fault, like you will now.

:eek: This sounds like my dear mother-in-law. That's right! I actually really love her. She just can't drive worth crap! Never could! And I've been catching it for almost 27 years for ever mentioning a word to her about it. Still, I fear for all who use the roadway at the same time she is out there.:rolleyes:

Here in WI I would definately file a Driver's Behavior Report. At least the DMV would take a look her driving privilges and possibly re-test her. Glad your ok.
