I feel your pain, I caught a sim round in my ring finger today at swat training from about three feet away. Probably wouldn't have been too bad if the rounds hadn't been out in the cold and were half frozen. My second knuckle is about the size of a golf ball right now.
How is this for a fun pic from a training exercise?Originally Posted by webjeep

Those sim rounds are fun. I took one about three inches from the boys and wound up face planting in the dirt. That was a bad day.
At the rifle instructor school I attended, I caught two simunition rounds in the palm while playing a bystander during an exercise.Originally Posted by 1depd

I was the "employee" in the big dark warehouse the "cops" were sent to. I walked out into the open middle of the warehouse and was immediately challenged by the "cops." I put my empty hands up to about chest level to show them I was harmless and was immediately hosed with automatic simunition fire from a .223 rifle. Most of the rounds hit my vest but two hit my left palm and one hit the inside portion of my bicep.
It not only hurt like hell, but it probably hurt worse because I was absolutely not expecting to get shot, since I knew I was playing the part of the employee and I had nothing in my hands.
The guy who "shot" me was a little embarassed, to say the least. He said later he didn't know the scenario included "friendlies".
