Just an Update. We had our St. Baldricks Celebration on 3-17-2006. The Event was a Success. All of our numbers are not in yet but here is what we have this far.
We had about 100 people get their heads shaved. our Goal was $25,000. Our First numbers show that We have raised $28,856. We have another $4000.00 Pledged to us but that money has not been collected yet.
I would like to thank the people of Toronto People, Organizations, and Businesses That Helped Or Donated. I would also like to thank Dave Kireta from Dave's Place for Volunteering to Cut Hair at the event.
I was able to raise $3779 before the event. I also have at least $250 with a possible $500 that I have not gotten collected so far. Again THANK YOU to everyone that helped out in any way! I will give another update when we get our totals.

I hated shaving my head. I did it 3 times in high school for swimming and it was horrible every time. The best part is when it starts growing back and you constantly have to figure out a new hair style. Glad you met your goal for money. That is a lot of money to be donated.

My wife occasionally mentions that she should think about donating her hair.

But she had an apparently very traumatic "the hairstylist didn't listen to my instructions and gave me a horrible short haircut" experience a few years ago and now she gets nervous when she goes for a trim.

I don't see her "donating" anything more than a half-inch or so for quite a while.

Can anyone enlighten me. Is this for fund raising for chartity alone, (which charity?) or does the hair get donated too (for wigs etc?)

We have "Bluey Day" here in Oz and I went in it a few years ago. The money raised goes to Cancer research/treatment.

I spent many dollars travelling around raising funds. I had my head shaved. In return I got a voucher for a free hug from the Women's and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide. More than a fair swap.

I haven't cashed the voucher yet. I figure the kids there need the hugs more than me and there is probalby not enough hugs to go around in that place.

You think facing a knife weilding drug addict needs courage. I did volunteer work for the Leukemia Foundation, taking patients to their treatment. You want to see courage, look in the eyes of a four year old on the way to his regular treatement, when he tells you that his hair fell into his breakfast this morning, and he laughs about it. An hour later you are carrying that little fella into the car because he is too sick from the treatment to walk the 20 metres himself and his single Mum is too busy crying. (Dad is a deadbeat who couldn't hack having a sick son and bolted)

And next month he does it all again, and again with a big smile on his face. Brings it all into perspective really.

I have made a lot of promises, but two promises that I will share...

One: I will NEVER own a minivan.
Two: Hair will never be shorter than my chin. That is where most cuts get screwed up!
