    Open letter from the Constable

To the party who has been sending me personal messages, we need to call a truce guy. This is getting out of hand. I understand you don't think much of constables, but are too polite to say so. I respect that. I don't think much of constables either. However, it is one of the few jobs I can work in around corrections and make money.

I try to do a professional job. I know I am not a police officer. I am on officer of the court and a sworn peace officer. If I say I served someone a summons, they are served. As for summary warrants, I probably have the highest clearance rate in the county.

Yes, it is my car and I pay my own insurance. I said so in my initial post. I also buy my uniforms, equipment, radios and firearms. I even bought my own high capacity magazines, which I can own. And I am keeping it all too, as a fall back position, pending a permanant relocation. I invested too much in this job to just give it all up.

And as far as the car goes, well, I can't afford two cars. It is my only car. I need it for work. Do I drive it off duty? Who goes off duty? I work eighty hours a week. I am always working. It is the only car I have to make the trip, so I need to take it with me when I move. I need to keep it in case things don't work out, and I have to return.

I originally only asked if anyone thought I would have any problems driving a marked car. I never tried to represent my self as a cop. I never have. I was just trying to avoid a big hassle, explaining why I would be driving a marked car to Florida in the first place, without going into an even longer explanation about constables.

I rest assured, will never again refer to it as a squad car. Nor will I say it is "commissioned", though the car is "Federally exempt from mileage....." or something to that effect, as per Penndot. It says so right on the title. And I imagine it will be a real headache when I do go to sell it too, what ever you want to call it.

And thanks for the good wishes on the move. I allready lined up some promising interviews. And as far as the car goes, I decided to trailer it down. It needs a rest. If I don't have to drive it back, I may just run it into the Atlantic and turn it into a coral reef. :D

I suppose considering I have no clue as to what you are talking about, it doesn't concern me. But if it doesn't concern me, is this the appropriate way to talk about it?

Forgive me if I am out of line.

Well, I posed a simple question. I've been getting some PM's, ostensably in response to the initial question, civil and all, but changing the subject, putting the onus on me. It's probably a misunderstanding okay. But then let the issue die. Why PM me again, then leave your box full, so I can't reply. What ever. Close the thread, move it. Sorry. ;)

I think that Mikes response was well thought out. I don't think people should send nasty PM's anyway and the people who do are sneaky and underhanded.

Actually, the PM's have been nice and civil. I really think it is a misunderstanding and we are at cross purposes, but I have been unable to reply. Then I thought what the heck, the trials and tribulations of the PA State Constables might be interesting. You certainley can't blame the police for looking at us siedways. We bring it on ourselves. I really started the whole thing with a half a$$ed post, because I didn't want to bother with a long explanation. My bad. :D

    Mike,
You're fine. You attempted to explain yourself, and you did it in a pleasant manner. Maybe this person doesn't realize that you have to clean out your PM box?

Normie, You know your da man.... Nasty PM's or unwanted PM's are tacky. I also can't stand attacks on threads that attack someone personally. How do we know what each other is like unless we have met them in person? There is NO NEED for consistently throwing little barbs that imply that someone is not up to the standards of some cocky person on a message board.
