Lots of great pics! I just got back from my own trip. Gotta love the "Off Route". Thank God for F7 ;) I barely used the GPS on the long stretches, because my laptop has a 130W power adapter, that kept blowing my fuses in my car. It would only run if the battery was fully charged before plugging it in. Oh well. I will have some pictures up when I wake up some more. Still haven't gone to bed after the 18 hr drive from Hattiesburg, MS back home.
Jack survived and is doing well, at least until my wife gets in the car or I get to a car wash (which it badly needs), where I am afraid he might suffer a dastardly fate...;) I like Jack, because I discovered I have a very commonly colored SUV and almost got into the wrong truck a few times until I got him.Originally Posted by KittyMom
I had that problem with my wifes 17'' laptop on my trip west in October. My first adapter, which was a simple A/C plug with a fan tacked onto a 12v kept blowing fuses, too. I finally took it back to a Walmart on our route and procured a "Powerline" brand that cost more, but was 200 watts continuous/400 peak (model # 0900-59) that has worked like a champ. It has dual outlets (that I wouldn't risk using the second) and a separate power switch, which I found handy when stopping to eat or gas. I discovered that if you leave the inverter running when you stop the car, it will kill your battery in about an hour... I came close at 45 minutes.Originally Posted by KaiGywer
Of course, a 17" is a monster to use in the car, which is one of my justifications for the separate 15".:D I want to get one of those car mounts that are used on Patrol vehicles, but those things cost a chunka change for what they are. They make temporary mounts that hook around the pass. front seat mounts. I need that for our trip West in June with the whole tribe (see last photo).
I think its a case of "you get what you pay for" in those inverters.

Aww, good. My Jack makes it a lot easier to find my car, same with my husband's as silver hybrids are a dime a dozen here. My car is so tiny that I can't see it around SUV's so Jack helps me spot it.Originally Posted by Creeker
The husband is always careful to remove ours before the car wash and replace them. Tell the wife to be nice to your li'l traveling buddy!
Don't get whatever kind they use in our local PD cars. I don't know what brand they are, but although they're great for the cops riding solo, they'll take a chunk out of the passenger's leg. Yeowch!I want to get one of those car mounts that are used on Patrol vehicles

Unfortunately due to a job I am about to start, Jack as well as my Gadsden Flag will soon be coming off of my vehicle due to the need for it to become less conspicuous. I think my Gadsden on the rear glass will be alright for now, though.Originally Posted by KittyMom

Awww. Well, Jack's had a big trip for such a little guy, put him up on the shelf and let him rest. He's not suited for undercover work in your area.
