A great day..plus overtime!

I had a great day yesterday. I just thought i'd share my first day in municipal court with you.
This kid, whom I arrested for class B possession of marijuana and class A possession of drug paraphernelia on Dec 24, 2005, decided he wanted to fight the charges. I get my evidence (scales, seeds, a marijuana pipe, wrappers, 2.28 oz of marijuana, and a "roach"), my video tape of the incident, and a copy of the report and show up at court at 0900. I see the subject in the court room. He looks up and sees me. I give him my biggest smile and hold up my clear plastic bag of evidence and shake it. 2 hours later the 19 y/o kid and I get our turn. The kid promptly goes up to the judge and says, "I want to change my plea".
Sigh, fine. Little does he know that the 2 hours that I was waiting for our court hearing, my 2 hours of overtime, will be paid by HIM. God bless the great state of TEXAS!

I've gotten to the point where I don't bother getting anything from evidence. I'll ask the prosecutor early in court if they need me to go get it. If it's going to be a trial they will send me for it, otherwise I don't waste my time since99 our of 100 times I'll never need it.

Just remember when you lose a case that it's all good, you still got paid for being there and they had to shell out some big $$$ for a lawyer.

Kind of what I find humerous when people fight a ticket with a lawyer and get off, they think they've "won" but in reality either way they paid out their pocket.

What's even funnier is when the city sends me to traffic court for 1 ticket, and the guy postpones twice, even if I win, the city still doesn't make any money, because they have to pay me overtime for going.

Most of the time I don't either. I'll bring pics and it the physical evidence is needed I'll go get it.

yea, but I'm new. I don't know what you know yet. If it was up to me i'd requisition their vehicle be towed to court for evidence. (i tried that actually)
