Well after 4 1/2 months on days I finally moved over to swings (1420-2220). And let me tell you what, I don't feel like an allstate agent anymore. 2 nights two arrests and my first chase, and it was with an armed suspect at that.
Manhattan man leads police on chase

A man who allegedly threatened his wife and another man with a handgun was arrested Monday night after leading police on a chase from Manhattan to Ogden.
Police stopped Louis Wansley Austin, 26, near Fort Riley on K-18 around 11 p.m. after he allegedly led police on a chase with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 mph. He was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault, battery and felony criminal restraint.
The incident began when Austin and his wife Tijuana Austin, 23, began arguing at their home at 3012 Sandstone Dr. Apt. 1, said Riley County Police spokesman Lt. Michael Quintanar. When Mrs. Austin tried to call for help, Mr. Austin restrained her before she was able to leave the apartment and called Jeraine Taylor, 32, of 3116 Heritage Ln., Quintanar said.
When Taylor arrived a short time later, Mr. Austin pulled out a handgun, causing Mrs. Austin and Taylor to fear for their lives, Quintanar said. Mr. Austin then left the apartment in a Ford Mustang and police were notified to be on the lookout for the car.
An officer spotted the Mustang driving south on Seth Child Road near its intersection with Amherst Avenue. The officer turned his lights and sirens on, but Mr. Austin did not stop, Quintanar said.
Mr. Austin then turned on K-18, where the maximum speed limit is 65, and drove toward Ogden. RCPD officers pulled over Austin after a 10-mile chase that ended at the 12th Street entrance to Fort Riley.
Mr. Austin was confined on $40,000 bond

Its too bad the chase didn't get up to any high speeds but hey I got referred to in the article (I am the his right before the lights and sirens part). It was pretty cool when we finally got him stopped right at the Ft. Riley gate, there were like 15 of us cops and troopers on this guy. Fortunately for him he just got out of the car and laid on the ground like a good boy until we could command him back to us. Oh yeah we found the gun too, a high quality Hi-Point .380 underneath the carpet on the passenger side of the vehicle. He was also supposedly suicidal and going to go on post to do himself in, or have us do it for him lukily it didn't come to that. All in all I think I'm going to like this shift!
