Congrats....
Nothing like that feeling in your gut when you drive out of the station for the first time solo....
Advice given to me: Make a traffic stop as soon as possible to break the ice and get you into the groove of being a solo cop.
I stopped someone within a few blocks of the station and realized it was the same routine I'd been doing for months, just didn't have some guy sitting in the patrol car cracking jokes and listening to me over my camera mic. Originally Posted by Straightshooter

Darin, at our PD, "Shadow" phase is still considered part of FTO, and I was never excited about it as it was a LT riding with me.
I wasn't solo coming onto a shift. I got "kicked" about four hours into my last shadow shift. I'd get calls here and there when the LT would just say "See ya...don't f*** it up." and I'd be on my own for that particular call. I still never thought of leaving without him though. Then I got a welfare check on an elderly call and I went to go find him. That's when I got the "take it easy and get into the groove of things" speech, where I was told not to bite off more than I could chew. That was it. My nuts dropped and I coded enroute, and I made sure to let dispatch know that I no longer had a "ghostrider" aboard. LOL
Congrats, Decuervo! There's nothing like it! Enjoy it this time, it's the only time it'll be THIS good. ;)
