    AFTER the chase...

I have a healthy distrust for cops... no offense to any of you, but when you're not a cop it's hard to trust guys with guns & intimate knowledge of their own authority.;)

However, I am amazed at car chases when I see them on TV. I'm a big proponent of juris prudence & yeah, I think everyone deserves a trial... UNLESS YOU RUN FROM A COP!

I've been arrested a few times (never convicted of anything beyond silly traffic stuff - speeding etc,) but have never ever had the inclination to run from a cop. Why would I? Here's the thing... the second you run, you're obviously guilty of something. If nothing else, you're guilty of endangering the lives of others. I, for one, believe that attempting to do something and actually succeeding should carry the same penalty. Afterall, exactly how is it different from the criminal's point of view if he actually manages to kill you or fails? If anything, you're rewarding peole for their incompetance!

So, endangering the lives of others should be taken pretty seriously in my book. So should evading police, running stop signs/lights etc... the combined punishment for these should be death. There is no need for a jury or judge in these instances. The runner is scum & doesn't deserve to share the air I get to breath! Now, if you're wearing a badge, unless I know you personally, I don't trust you. BUT, if you're chasing someone & they fail to stop, you should get to shoot the SOB right where you catch 'em.

Just keep this in mind... if their getaway car is in tact, you might want to pull 'em out of it, first. It'll bring more at auction, that way.;)

FWIW, the only 'out' should be if they're on the way to the hospital...

Wow  not quite sure how to respond to "Shoot them on the spot" comment and I have to say (respectfully) that I am very surprised to hear that from the mouth of a Liberal

As for trust, I would trust a LEO 100% with my life :D

Do you trust me enough to call me at 0230 when some drunken idiot is pounding on your door making threats ? ( or would you rather handle it yourself ?)

Do you trust me enough to pick up your wallet full of cash and return it to you ? ( or would you rather me hand it off to the first person I see ?)

Do you trust me enough to take care of you injured relatives/ friends until I can get competent medical help to take over ? ( or would you rather I go back to my cruiser and just call for an ambulance and wait there ? )

I don't understand your overt distrust of the police , especially if your background includes nothiing but a few " silly traffic offenses".

In every profession there are some bad apples, fortunately they are few and far between and the 99.9% of us who are doing an honorable and professional job don't trust them either BUT be careful in making such a blanket statement in a " room full " of cops.

    But welcome to RP.
