I love catchy titles! Here's my story. I'm posting this so people can learn from this story, help me out if they can, ask questions, or be entertained at my expense. The story's in progress so I may update.
I came home last night after a long road trip. My dad greeted me with a mail from the Department of Public Safety Driver Responsibility Program.
I was convicted of No Insurance/No DL and I had to pay $260 each year for three years otherwise my license would be immediately revoked!!!
Well here's the problem ... I was never convicted of No Insurance. I did get a No Insurance ticket last month on campus which was dismissed on proof of insurance.
Aside from the extra surcharges from a conviction, I would probably play a higher insurance premium (I doubt my insurance copmpany would put 2 and 2 together and see they were insuring me), and I would have a conviction of no insurance that would haunt me for the rest of my life.
If my license will be revoked, this will stay on my record for life and this will also be a serious disqualifier for many agencies as well as many other jobs. If I am arrested and criminally charged for driving revoked, I am royally screwed. I can forget about ever finding a job then.
So I call the court near campus where I most probably got the ticket. They say the ticket is dismissed and asked if I got a letter. I say yes. They say they goofed in reporting and they sent another e-mail to remedy the problem.
This is where the story is right now at 9:30 (most of Texas) time. I will be going to the Driver's license office to pick up a copy of my driving record at this time.
