    Lt. Col. Grossman

The Omaha Police Union sponsored Lt. Col. Dave Grossman in November. I just wanted to advise others that his message is incredible. Grossman has written several books and travels the world speaking to and training military and police personnel. Grossman's main message involves the psychological aspects that go into law enforcement and the military. It makes you proud to do what you do.

Check out his website at www.killology.com for more information.

I would highly advise anyone in or interested in the military or l.e. to read his books but to definitely see him speak if you get the chance.

    Be safe.

Grossman's okay, but I don't worship him like some people do. He's definitely done some good studies and he's good in his field. And although he's had a lot of army training, he's never spent a day in combat or on the street as a cop. Some of his ideas are merely his opinions, not based on any scientific research he's done. A lot of people appear to have trouble telling the two apart.

I have a lot more respect for the guy who's been there and done it than someone who has just talked to other people who have.

Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I don't know anything about him, but I have heard that his books and lectures are very informative. I haven't gotten around to reading anything of his yet so, again, my post is completely pointless!

I like "On Killing" very much. The book is based on research he did with combat veterans. Although it was an eye opener when I first read it, after thinking of my own experiences in combat in Vietnam and as a cop in a couple of shootings, I realized that he was right on. Especially about the low % of people really able to aim a weapon at someone and kill them. Kinda scary if you think about it.

His other book, I forgot the name, I didn't finish. He had some good info, but in some parts of it he came across more as a gun nut than a researcher. Where in the first book, it was obvious that it was all based on research, there were parts of the second book he just pontificated his own ideas based merely on opinion.

I'm not writing the guy off, but again, there is nothing in his biography to indicate he's ever had to shoot anybody himself. He knows only what other people have told him. In some areas, he talks big, but who knows if he could actually kill somebody? Read the books and listen to him, it's worth it, but I don't see him as the guru some do.

I have attended his one-day "Bulletproof Mind" class. I thought it was very good.

Most of the in-service police training classes I have attended appear in the encyclopedia under the heading "five minutes of worthwhile information stretched out into eight hours of stupefying tedium." It was a pleasure to actually attend a class where it was easy to pay attention and where I didn't find myself looking at my watch every thirty seconds.

I think that even those people who don't agree with LTC Grossman's opinions will probably agree that he is a compelling speaker who does an excellent job of keeping the audience interested throughout his seminars.
