"Your body is telling you to run...this is a dangerous situation...but you stay. You do the unnatural, even though your body has equipped itself for flight. You may be tasked to make a literal life/death situation, and your brain is possibly fuzzed."

What a great point. I remember the last time an officer yelled, "GUN!" I could feel my feet wanting to turn the opposite direction and book it. But you kind of have to slap your mind around a little and overcome it.

i've read all the posts here , i really dont think it matters wheter or not the suspect was hit or not, the point is that the officer royally screwed up!! take out the fact that she may or may not have had to have her weapon out. she still fired in the general direction of 1. another officer, and 2. a suspect. she needs to be/or have been fired for that one. it would almost be a different situation if the suspect had a gun pointed at an officer, but that didnt even happen here. dont put your finger in the trigger until you are ready to kill whatever is on the other side of the barrel, case closed.
I do what I can do when I can do it.

Looks like this is clip is from a training film, 1999.
Being so old is why the TV station does not have it anymore on its site. The TV station only goes back to year 2000, with its archives.

IF any one haves this training tape, it should have all the information.

This program examines an accident during an arrest. The cover officer’s gun accidentally discharged while the subject was being handcuffed. The cover officer was in the proper position but with her finger on the trigger while she was holstering the weapon. This program reviews the proper procedure while in the universal cover mode and 8 questions are posed to review the procedures. (In the Line Of Duty)

No the suspect did not get hit, no the male officer did not get hurt, NO she did not get fired but did RESIGN. (This happened several years ago in Las Vegas.)

Thanks Watcher - I was wondering what the outcome of this was. I am glad neither the officer or suspect was hit.

(albeit probably shaken a bit though)

""The footage was shot here in the early 90's.
We have had many requests from law enforcment, unfortunately we can not
locate the archive tape is was saved on.
