    I love that idea.

Oh, and a new development. My family has only lived in this house since September. We've already got $15,000 equity (we got a cool deal on the house and its worth way more than we paid....divorce thing).

I've always wanted to live on some acreage in the country, somewhere where I can keep the neighbors ar bay with an AR-15 sighted in at 300 yards (hehe). We're looking at moving to Washington State. It would probably add 20 minutes to my 20 minute commute, but its what we want.

I wouldn't say that this latest event is driving us out, but it has made us realize how much nicer it would be to get a place a little more secluded.

Now to work on the take home car issue.

My neighbors are awesome. Yesterday, I took it upon myself to do a man's job (:D) and put together a lawnmower I purchased. Well, after about 1 1/2 hours just to put the wheels and the handle on, I was ready to give up.
My one neighbor offered to come over and put it together for me ( I refused), and the guy on the other side of me told me he would just come over and mow my lawn since he isn't mechanically inclined either (I refused that also).
On a good note, I got the damn thing together - although I don't know if it runs yet - and I did it all by myself. YEAH!!! GIRL POWER!!!! lol...

    Girl-Power...Shmirl-Power!!!!

I once carried this heavy steam cleaner out of a store (it was a rental). I saw a burly guy* coming my way and I gave a good grunt, a huff, and I dropped the thing on the ground with a little feminine sigh. He came running over to help. He put it in the back of my car which was parked on the other side of the parking lot. Between my rack and his chilvary.....now that's girl power!!!:p (j/k)

    * I actually knew the guy, he worked with my husband in the service. I did it to be a smart-***. It worked!!!

I was just razzin' the ladies (here). The story is true, I WAS just trying to be a smart-***, but if memory serves me correctly....I believe I was pregnant at the time. LOL.

The ole' rack trick worked when it mattered.....Batman fixed his sights on me 12 years ago. Heehee! Still no complaints.

When I was a civilian cop, I had a take home and YES, people were alwayts asking , "What should I do about that and what should I do about this." I just agave them an answer and kept going on about my business. If a problem occurred on my street, I calle dthe dispatch and had them send a car, I never got involved that much except one time when a life was in danger. Did I mention that my wife at the time was a cop too so we had 2 police cars in our drive way, both from different cities.

Now I am a military police officer. I live in base housing over seas. Every time my neighbors get loud upstairs, my other neighbor calls the Base Police. They come over and handle the problem , then depending on who it is, they might stop downstairs to my apartment. Naturally the upstairs neighbors assume that it was me calling the cops on them. I don't guess I really care because the noise stopped.

I don't like neighbors knowing what my husband nor I do....It's none of their business. I used to (while in uniform) have problems with people coming up to me while jogging, gardening, etc...asking questions about traffic tickets, arrests, fines, etc...got too damn tiring.

I am no longer in uniform, I am with the gov't....hubby is still in uniform, PD Sgt. and our neighbors do know he is a cop. But even out of uniform, when you come home with a gun on, most of them will get a glance on occasion. Still don't like it too much.

If I knew my neighbor worked at Wal-Mart, I would not go knocking on his door, interrupting his meal with his family to ask how much the newest X Box is running for. LOL But you would be suprised at the gall (let's say) of those who know you are an LEO and what they ask, and do on your private time. It's amazing!

It is a shame, but it is not just civilians who are a PITA.

I did a brief stint in my departments traffic division. I wrote 20-30 citations a day. I received calls all of the time at home from officers I did not even know asking me to "throw away" tickets I wrote their family, friends, whatever.

I think Bruno knows what I'm suffering through. I am working on acquiring some acreage out in the country to get away. Then i'm gonna buy an AR to protect it.

Not that any of you probably care, but I thought I would share an update on GIRL POWER, or as I now call it "Revenge of the lawnmower".....
After getting the mower together, I couldn't get it to start, no matter how many times I pulled that cord thingee. Finally ended up taking it to WallyWorld yesterday. After listening to the 'Are you a complete idiot' type questions - "Did you put gas in it?" "Did you pull the cord?" "Is there oil in it?", the guys (yes, they all gathered around to watch the dumb blonde in action!) started it on the first try!! LOL... turns out I put the handle on backwards, and the pull cord was angled too much...I'm not shopping at that Walmart again! At least my grass is finally cut!
And yes, my neighbor came over when I was gone and mowed my lawn for me before I got the mower fixed.

So much for girl power. :(
