    My First Sting!!!!Im so excited!

Im am so excited for tomorrow night. 2 of my friends and myself have been asked to participate in a "sting." We are going around to a few shops and will try to buy alcohol from the clerk. If they let us, the cops go in, If they dont let us buy it, then off to the next store. I havent heard much of how it will be going down, but I will find out tomorrow. Im so excited I cant take it!
Hopefully this will get my foot in the door for more sting operations/ride alongs/volunteer work. I will post more tomorrow of how it went. Cant wait!

Do what you are told and how you are told to do it. Don't ad-lib or decide to do things your way. If you are a good team player you will get asked again. If they think you are a loose canon you'll never be asked again. Good luck!

I did that for a neighboring county when I was fresh in the academy. Even posted the resulting news story at http://forums.realpolice.net/showthr...hlight=alcohol

However, be advised while it may be fun, unless you're planning on trying to get with a small town good ole boy system, this won't actually help you past getting to know a few cops.

Oh yeah, they all paid the fines ($500 for the clerk, $500 for the business on each count) I was prepared to go to court on them, but never had to.

Like Valor said though, have fun with it. It'll probably be a script, this was the first time the team I worked with did it (first time for me to), so they let me feel my way around and make up my own excuses for not having an ID.

I'd give Oscar the Grouch ten bucks if he'd call Elmo "Numbnuts" and then hit him with a shovel.

Hey sorry I didnt post how it went I have been kinda busy. Well I was with one Police Officer and one NH State Liquor Officer. We went around to many stores and I went in, grabbed a beer and was waiting for the clerk to ask my age, or for my ID. They told us we couldnt lie about our age and we also had to present our license if they asked for it. I dont really understand why, when I thought the point of the sting was to get people to sell alcohol to minors. But anyway, I was dissapointed that I didnt get any sells, but that is a good thing I guess. Every clerk asked for my ID then refused to sell me the beer. Out of 120 shops, 10 places sold. During the ride we actually pulled up to an accident with our lights on (to see if we could get by) and we made a traffic stop. The guy cut out infront of us from his driveway(we were in a black unmarked crown vic.)

Another guy was on our *** with his high beams on, the Liquor enforcement officer flipped on the back LED's and the guy backed waaay off. We were all laughing at what little blue lights can do. I had an awesome time and they said they would call me again soon for another city. I asked for a ride along at the end but he said our city only does it for students in college.

"I think I'm going to vomit....", i still dont get that, anyone care to help me out?

They don't want you to trick a clerk into selling you beer. You want to catch them being lazy and not asking or checking ID's. Considering that they WILL lose their job if there is a charge for selling to an underage buyer it wouldn't really be cool to trick them would it?

Good job, you'll probably get to do it again.
