Last night was my night off. I'm a 19-year-old dispatcher (Airport Police/Fire) and a Law Enforcement/Justice Administration college student. I wanted nothing more than to enjoy my night off and watch some TV. But unfortunately my work was not yet over.
I was watching my 10-8 Officers on Duty DVDs when out on the lawn there arose such a clatter. After the clatter came a car alarm. I got up from my chair, put on my jacket and went to see if I could help anyone.
When I got outside I thought that some idiot had set some car alarm off but to my dismay I saw a 400 pound lady lying on the ground underneath a wooden stair case. Her husband was quickly trying to dial 911 on his cell phone but apparently couldn't figure out how to do it so he set his car alarm off to get some attention.
As I looked at the large lady, I looked up and saw that she fell through the stairs six feet up. I called 911 and calmed her husband down. The EMTs arrived followed by a Police Officer and then the fire department. Everyone had a smile on their face. I couldn't tell if it was because Christmas was coming or they were laughing about the situation.
No one was hurt too bad but I couldn't help but tell this Christmas tale to my friends here at realpolice.
