You may have had a hemi car in which the hemi was removed but the 383 was not a hemi. ( still a great motor) . Nope , the "Cuda came with a 225 slant six ( believe it or not !) the 273 V-8 , 318, 340, 360, 383, 426 and the 440. The 383 could have been a magnum or a Commando. Same motor just Plymouth and Dodge fooling around.
Yep , the new hemi is a 5.7 at 345 hp. Pretty good but I believe that one can get a Navigator with a 345 hp 5.4 Ford engine.
I am glad I got sent overseas and had to sell my 440 Dodge. It could have led to my demise. Always wonder what happened to it. I sold it via power of attorney after I was already in Korea.
Chrysler was also the first American car to achieve more than one hp per cube in a 6 cylinder. The 170 cui slant six configured as a Hyper-Pak was good for 190 hp. Very rare. Although Chrysler came out with a Super - Six in the mid seventies it was just the basic 225 cui engine with a two barrel carb instead of the normal one barrel. OK OK enough.
