    Taser Fatality

I heard this on the radio today. in Burnaby, BC a man came into a hotel with a knife and hammer, the RCMP were called and after several orders to drop the weapons, he was shot with the Taser. His heart stopped and paramedics were unable to revive him, he was 51 yrs old. From all the info that advanced taser gives out they seem to stress over and over that no deaths have resulted from the taser. Two things that might be important in this particular case is, 1. I'm not sure if what was used was the Advanced Taser, (although I know that is what the RCMP are issued now). 2. It has not yet been proven if it was the taser that killed him, but again its looking like it was.

Moral of the story; Don't be committing violent crimes or going around with dangerous weapons. If you do and the police show up, do what they tell you.

I'm just wondering what this will do to the Advanced Taser company's claims though of no chance of fatalities. And what about the liability issue, of course a knife and hammer are a deadly weapon so that would constitute deadly force. Oh well, heres one that people can talk and debate about now.

some clown near Dallas was threatening to jump off of a bridge several months ago. After a long standoff, a tactical officer hit him with a TASER, and he jumped to his death.

    Bottom line:
There is no such thing as a non-lethal weapon. No matter what you use, whether it be pepper spray, to batons, to rubber bullets, to even tasers, they can all kill.

I guess the cops could have just jumped to their service pistols instead of trying less drastic measures.

The man could have had a medical condition that could have been severily affected by the taser gun. Either way I can't say that I really feel sorry for the guy, he should have been shot with lead.

That's why they are called "less leathal weapons" *lol*

This morning on the radio I caught the tail end of a story about these officers demonstraiting (to the media) the benefits of tasers in a correctional facility.

They shoot the guy posing as an uncooperative inmate and instead of falling forward onto the saftey mat, he goes the other way, smacking his head on the floor. Poor guy needed to get his head examined. Thankfully he was okay.

We don't have tasers here. We'd just do it right and shoot the dumbass.

I got something for a man that brings a hammer and knife to a gunfight........hot lead in a hell of a hurry.
