Have to get tasered at the Academy?

Do u have to get tasered and shot at the academy? Man I didnt know this and I am an aspiring state trooper when I get out of college. WOW if this istrue

Some departments taser you but the getting shot bit, I think that's a bit extreme, I can't think of anywhere you could get shot and it not hurting like hell and putting you out of action for several months.

Getting shot??? Your kidding...
You may have the get "hit" with the taser, meaning the probes will penetrate your skin. Or you may just have to do it in a group hug. Either way, you'l probably be tased.

People don't get shot with a taser, they get "hit" by it. Reduces confusion.

Here in Nevada I think they tape them to you.

I had the option of getting them taped, getting hit, or doing a group hug, with the people on the end of the line holding the probes.

I did the latter.

In New Jersey we can't carry tasers so no to the taser(most other states.. yes). Shot? I don't know who the hell you were talking to but I think they were having some fun.

BUT don't forget the Chemical spray and also for some(like me) TEAR GAS!

Tough it up if you really wish to be a LEO you're gunnahave to go through it, really not that bad and a few minutes of pain for a lifetime of verified status on RP is worth it :D

When we got certified some of the folks took a little jolt by the instructor placing the probes on the person. A few others and I actually got shot and took the full 5 seconds. What a rush ! :D

Dont sweat it - after its over your muscles are kinda tired cause of being tensed up. But after its done ... its done - I went back in service after the class. Nothing like mace that lasts and lasts and lasts.

Tasers are an awsome tool - if possibe try to encourage your dept to get some.

Tasered....well it wasn't mandatory when I got tased but it was an experience. I checked into my unit in the Marines and it was kinda an initiation. I pissed my self so be prepared for something. I doubt you'll get shot......to much liability. However it would be a nice touch.
